patriot praise

First Born Son has been back in Dallas this weekend for multiple reasons. I had the opportunity to preach in all three services at my old home church on Sunday (look for an audio link soon). Jennifer took the above picture during the worship music, and I can't help but wonder "What's wrong with this picture?" (click on photo to enlarge and read lyrics)

This week is our last week in Kentucky before we move to Arkansas. Pray for us as we pack boxes and say good-by to friends.

More to come...

Had you not mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed.....they're missing the Texas flag. I can't think of a better compliment to Old Glory than the Lone Star State flag.

If it is the "undimmed by human tears" thing, I agree when coming at it from a certain frame of mind. Human tears do not dim the glory of what we look for in hope as the kind of city or world God may bring to us. They are often healing and necessary. Sometimes, as a response to sin, evil and broken-ness they help guide us to a brighter place. But, from another perspctive and different frame of mind, if one approaches this with the eschatological hope of Revelation where God wipes away every tear and establishes a kingdom where there will be no more crying, then this is an appropriate phrase for such a prayer as is this song. It reflects a payer that we may become like the kingdom of God - Thy Kingodm come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The phrase immediately after this ine is, "America, America, God mend thine every flaw. Confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law." Sounds like a prayer for godly accountability to me. I think we can be broad minded enough to see and appreciate both perspectives.
