Since our last post in May we had three major "life changers."
First, I was promoted to the position of Executive Director at the University of Arkansas Wesley Foundation. Not a big fan of the title (sounds pretty corporate), but do love the job. This wasn't part of the plan when we moved here, but we are thankful. Of course, the responsibility factor grew exponentially overnight, and so that is where most of my time has gone.
Second, we bought our first house. Never a small deal. After a dozen years living in apartments, it is nice to finally have a back yard. Of course a house means I have to start mowing again for the first time since high school, but yard work can be therapy. We're still unpacking and getting ready to paint a room for...
... our third big bit o' news: We're having our first baby! Our daughter Sadie will be here in the new year. Jenn said we had to have our first baby before I turned 36. Well, Sadie is due January 24, and I turn 36 on January 28. Those of you who know me can testify that I always seem to leave things till the last minute :)

As you can see by her pic, Sadie is letting us know everything is going o.k. ("Calm down Daddy... we're all good. Now get out of my womb"). And as you can probably tell, life has been a whirlwind around here, and so writing has slipped a lot. But we have a pulse, and we're getting back in business.
So tell your friends and come back and see us. First Born Son is back on the radar, there is a lot to talk about, and we have a long way to go and a short time to get there.
Pray for us.

Omar,
Give an old friend in Oklahoma City a call...you and I are sharing some welcome but unexpected vocational transitions.

Blessings on your new times! Be safe. Be well. And get some extra rest!
Blessings,
I'll be praying for Sadie and her parents.
Let me say to you Omar, we've some things in commom, although thousands of miles apart.
My three brazilians kids carry proudly their grandpa's surname. He was born in Mosul and the Lord made him find his way down to Brazil where he settled (back in the 50's).
May we share more in the future.
Hey Omar,
Nice to hear of all the exciting changes y'all have going on there. Congratulations. I was talking with Dr. Katongole a while back and your name came up. Your essay in sojourners was good. Brace yourself, those little folks sure shake stuff up.
Shalom,
Julius
Congratulations!
